ANNUAL FREE INTEGRATED SCHOOL MEDICAL CHECKUP

Objective: The project has been started with a view to screen all the school children for all types of ailments. The surveillance commences in the last week of June every year and goes on till the end of August. Students needing medical treatment are referred to the base hospital for free follow-up treatment including free hospitalisation if necessary.

Beneficiaries: School children in villages around Tambaram. In the year 2005, 116,200 students of 240 schools have covered under this program.

Source of funds: Contributions from individuals and from institutions. Project concern International (PCI), Santiago, USA has donated US $11,000 for this project in 1997.

Project Status: This is also an on-going project.
