She did her B.Sc. in Statistics, M.A. in Political Science in Madras University and "Kovid" in Sanskrit conducted by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. She is awarded for her literary work in Tamil. 

She has involved herself in: 
 

• Reading and Scribing for Blind students

• She is an active member of "Inner Wheel Club of Madras"

• She is one of the committee members of "Valluvar Gurukulam an educational institution for the first generation girl students.

• She is leading a group called "Janaranjani" - singing devotional songs.
