68 years old Mr K.Badrinarayanan, sustained fracture on rightside humerus in the year 2000 and had undergone a surgery in a private hospital.

X-ray taken showed that plating was done but fracture not united and plate has broken.

He consulted our, Orthopaedic surgeon Dr.S.Saravana Kumar on 1st October, 2005. On examination of patient, it was found that patient had an Myocardial infraction 30 years back and also his cardiac function was poor.(Cardiac ejection fraction - 29%)

After taking the opinion from General Physician, Dr.V.Aravind and Dr. G.Karthikeyan Cardiologist, bone grafting and fresh plate fixation were planned under high risk consent surgery on 14th October, 2005.

Bone grafting was taken from Iliac crest, fracture ends freshened for grafting and fresh plate fixation done by a team of Orthopaedicians headed by Dr.S.Saravana Kumar along with Anaesthetist Dr. J. Srinivasan.

Intra-operatively Patient went for hemodynamic instability.

After the patient was closely monitored in ICU by Dr. Patturajan Manasay and Dr. V. Aravind, General Physicians. He became normal and was shifted to ward and discharged in a week.
